The white LGBT community has a long history of anti-Black racism. And this racism was on full display this week in relation to a ruthless murder that occurred in Chicago.
This week, white hispanic suspect Orlando Perez told law enforcement he shot Black trans woman Selena Reyes-Hernandez twice in her home, then came back and fired his gun again into her lifeless body.
In an act of shameless deception, white LGBT writer for the news site Insider wrote an article about the murder, and used a stock image of a Black man in handcuffs. This was done to give the impression that a Black man committed the murder.
This cowardly act of deception was also used to push the false narrative orchestrated by the white LGBT community that heterosexual Black men (and the straight Black community as a whole) are killing Black trans people, because of some inherent “transphobia” in Black society.
The white LGBT uses this false narrative to deflect away from talk of white supremacy, so they can instead focus on what they claim is comparative “bigotry” coming from Black society against Black trans people.
Black society must understand that people like Dan Avery and other people in the white LGBT community are not allies with Black society, and they practice the same exploitive, anti-Black racism as heterosexual white society.
